MASTERTON P. AND T, v. PALMERSTON P. AND T. The Post and Telegraph staffs of Palmerston North and Masterton met on the hockey field at Lansdowne on Saturday and, aa expected, a fine game eventuated. The game was one of those which go to make this exhilarating pastime so popular, for the display given by both contestants was decidedly good, the two spells bristled with brilliant play by the two sets of forward?, the visitors being the superior in this department, their passing consicuring the soft state of the ground, being excellent, the veteran Crump being always to the fore, nnd his confreres were always ready with their good assistance. The Palmerston backs were a good all round set, but their "btar" was Darby JKerelake, whos? , exhibition of defensive work was a real treat. The local forwards played their usual good game, but their wing men were rather weak, but irrproved as the game went on, Berry being the best of the five. The backs were good, Clark as goalkeeper being the best, he saved his side time after time. The two goals which the visitors scored were splendid efforts, and the keeper had no chance whatever of stopping £them. 'lhe final score of Palmerston 2, Masterton nil was a fair indication of the play, as both teams missed several shots by inches only. The referring of Mr A. C. Piagneil gave every satisfaction. LADIES' COMPETITION. KIA TO A v. HIGH SCHOOL. In the Age Cup competition on Saturday Kia Toa defeated High School by 5 goals to nil. Ihe first spell was fairly even, and ended with the a cores 2 to nil, but in the second half Kia Toa bad decidedly the best of things and hardly ever Ic-ft School circle. Miss Z. Humphr ?c s (4) anp E. Hawke (1) scored for Kia Toa.
