AMUSEMENTS.

TOWN HALL PICTURES. There was a large and delighted gathering of children at the imtinee in the Town Hall on Saturday afternoon, and in the evening the change of programme was witnessed by a most enthusiastic audience The beautituily coloured star film, describing the running to earth of a notorious gang of smugglers, was'an. elegant dramatic production, and a romance of ihe Spanish Inquisition, in which the King ofSpainmarr.es the French Princess who is betrothed to Lion Carlo?, and the latter is cruelly assassinated, was watched with intense interest. Another thrilling drama, in which a goldseeker is robbed, ard afterwards discovers that his daughter has married his assailant, was vividly pourtrayed, as was also a drama bearing upon the concealment of arms, which was regarded as a serious offence in the early part of last century. Altogether the dramatic films are cleverly contrived, strong in detail, and full of incident. Iha scenic him describing life on the Zambeai River is most instructive, and to those interested in naval matters, ihe launching of the' Commonwealth's first Dreadnought, 'flhe Yarra," showing Sir George Reid in ihe crowd, is especially commended. The comic side of fhe v programme is as strong as ever. The electrification of a household, the eccentricities of a modern servant girl, the comical situations surrounding the life of a spsndthnft, the vivacity of Fo Ishead, and tha rest nf the series supply a comedy bill-of fare which is seldom seen in MastertDr. The programme, with important additions, will bo presented in the Drill Hall t>night,. ss the Town Hall is ivi quired/for other purposes.
