The Bishop of Waiapu was among the passengers overcanied from Napier to Wellington. His services were speedily requisitioned at the capital. Mr Howard Hadley bas been appointed to conduct the practical examination in music in New Zealand this year, held under the auspices of the Associated Board of the R.A.M. and tha R.C.M., London. There are some 2000 candidates to be examined. Mr A. G. Wise, who has lelinquised the position of manager of the Wairarapa Daily Time?, was presented by the staff, on Saturday afternoon, with a travelling bag, suitably inscribed. The gift wa3 accompanied by tributes to Mr Wise's good qualities and best wishes for his future welfare. The recipient responded in appropriate terms. j The death is announced of Richard Hobbs, 3x-nember of Parliament, and son of'Mr John Hobbs, one of the earliest Wesleyan missionaries. Mr Hobbs, had been in ind.fferent health lately, but was about Auck> land right up to Friday last. On Saturday morning his hcusekepper beard a noise in his bedroom, and found him lying the floor, face downwards, quite dead.
