The Shield team has been picked, and, taken man for man, is the best that Wairarapa could furnish. To-day the Shield team and B representatives play at Carterton. The match will be the first opportunity most of the members will have had of playing together this season. Twelve Shield matches have been played to date, in five of which the Wellington team has taken part, winning four and losing one. Li the r five matches the taam has 'scored fourteen goals, and had seven scored against it. An Auckland writer says it is not at all likely will be sariously in danger of losing the Shield till they meet Cantsrbury on August 6th. This match Ehould be one of the finest contests ever decided in the Dominion, and the result will be eagerly awaited byAucklanders. The Auckland representative I team will play the winners for the championship of New Zealand. There is a rule in ladies' hockey that players should not use hatpins.
