CHILDREN'S COMPETITION.
"WHAT I SAW AT THE PICTURES." i
The first prize in connection with | ihe Thompson Payne pictures children's competition, for children over 10, was won by Miss Rona Mason, Oxford street, Lansdowne, wilh the followingDear Sit,—Ab ona of the vast crowd who witnessed your picture entertainment on Saturday afteri noon, I was greatly impressed with the brilliancy and clearness of same. Having read in our school hocks about the charge of the Light Brigade at Balaclava, with regret at such loss of life, with such noble men who sacrificed their lives, and seeing the picture thrown on your screen, was the means of bringing back to my mind what brave and salient men they were, and also your forethought at giving the nroceeds of the entertainment to the survivors of Balaclava. ThompsonPayne's generosity should never be forgotten, as bv their free matinee rich and poor are treated alike.
