MASTERTON COUNTY COUNCIL.

MONTHLY MEETING. The monthly meeting of tbe Masterton County Council was held yesterday afternoon. Cr. W. J. Welch presided, and there were also present —Crs. J. Morris, J. Miller, D. W. Foreman, W. Kebbel!. Apologies for absence were received from Crs Toogood and Murray. In reference to a request by Mr J. Kavanagh that the Council lower a culvert on the road adjoining bis property, it was decided that if Mr Kavanagh can show that the culvert is ciusing the water to "bank up" the Council will bear half the cost of l.weringit. Mr ;W. Cross, Alfredton, wrote asking that a road near his property be attended 10 and that two culverts be put in. Cr. Kebbell stated that b: considered that the settlers should raise a loan to pun the road in question in proper order. There was about £Z in hand which could be spent on the road. Ic was decided to coovey Cr. Kebbell's suggestion to Mr Cross. A letter was received from Messrs J. and G. Judd asking the county Council to take over tbe proposed County road between the Solway Showground and their property from the Uld Men's Home to the railway road. It was resolved to take over the road subject to the applicants bearing the cost of the railway crossing and cattle stops. 1 The Clerk of the Executive Coun- J cil wrote stating that the plants. known as Capeweed and pennycresa | or Canadian stinkweed were included under the Noxious Weeds Act. The Castlepoint County Council wrote asking for the services of the County Engineer to report on the Whareama bridges. The request was granted. A communication was received from Mr G C. Williams stating that ha has no objection to a trial survey being made of the proposed deviation through his property at the Devil's Elbow, Taueru It was decided to app/y .for £l5O for the purpose of putting in culverts, etc., on tha last completed mile of the Glendonald-Wairere road, and £3OO for completing the Castle Hill Tinui road.
