RESIGNATION OF THE REV. C. E. PORTER.
FROM METHODIST MINISTRY. The Rev. C. E Porter, who for the past fifteen months has been in charge of the Masterton Circuit, has tendered his resignation from the Methodist ministry. Mr Porter said his resignation was not brought about through any change in his attitude towards the evangelical theology or through any unpleasantness or disagreement with the officials or members of »iis present charge; no man, he stated, was every surrounded by a moxe loyal sat of Christian workers. But his resignation had been brought about by the disabilities of the itinerant system ol the Methodist Church. It was not the outcome of hasty action, but the result of years of thuught. The Rev. Mr Porter has served sixteen years in the Methodist ministry, and during his stay in Masterton has not only been a zealous and indefatigable worker, but has earned the goodwill of every class, and made a host of friends. In all probability the Rev. Mr Porter will continue t) occupy the pulpit until the end of this month.
