The season commences at the Town Hall on Thursday evpnirg, when "Revenge" will be produced. The piece is one which affords plenty of scope for scenic display, and is said to be (xrel'ently mounted. It has plenty tf stro u' dramatic situations, and though of the melodramatic type, has a well defined plot. The company is headed by Mi*s Beatrice Hollonay, an aciress who has made herself deservedly popular with Christchurch playgoer?, and Mr Max Maxwell, who will be f recognised as a leading member of Mr Bland Holt's company Mr Charles Brown, and others who have appeared under .Mr Holt's management, are includtd in the list of the new company. TOWN HALL PICTURES. There was another Appreciative audience in the Town Hall last evening to witness the excellent programme, which includes the late King's funeral and a beautiful series of .dramatic, scenic and comic films. One or two fresh items were introduced, and the whole programme was put on in a most attract ve style. The screen now covers the whole of the large proscenium, and the pictures are remarkable for their clear ne i s and steadiness. A lull house greeted the change of pictures at the Forester's Hall last ! night. Th& new series is undoubtedly the most instructive yet produced by Messrs Thompson ard Payne. "The Life of Napoleon'" in itself is of great educational value, and the historical events depicted strike the mind more forcibly than hours of reading. The story of this famous general is shown at great length, and the scenes were enacted upon j the actual sites of the, events. Nap oleon is shown as he appeared at Austerlitz, Arcole Bridge, the Passage of St. Bernard's, and other famous battlefields The meeting, wedding, and coronation of Napoleon and Josephine are also pourtrayed. The invasion of Russia, the burning of Moscow, ard the retreat from Russia, are also faithfully and realistically produced. A fair sample of Napoleon's temper is shown during the interview with the Pope. The closing years of Napoieon's life follow, with "The Abdication," "Watreloo," and the finale,"Captive on St Helena." This great picture is supported by an excellent programme, ! among which are several scenic, industrial, dramatic and humorous subjects. "Agriculture in New South Wales" gived a comprehensive idea of farm life in Australia. "Yachting in Sydney Harbour" is a fiie scenic picture. The indiatrial subjects include "Lollie Making in England," and "Coal Mimrg in Newcastle. ' N.5.W.." Biblical history is displayed in "The Life of Moses, series II.." showing the infliction of the different plagues and the subsequent departure of the Children of Israel [ frum Ei'ypt.
