Own Correspondent. Saturday. Mr Frank Williams, of Belvedere, met with a peculiar accident while out rabbit shooting a few days ago. He had shot a rabbit, the charge having splintered the animal's leg. A piece of the bone had penetrated the akin, and in picking up the rahbit this ran palm of Mr Williams' hand, and out the back inflicting a nasty wound. Mr J. Gayfer has given two medals to the local football club, one each for the best all round player for the junior and third class fifteens. Mr A. W. Wallace has presented a medal for the best forward in the latter team. A meeting is to be held here on Monday evening next for the purpose of endeavouring to reorganise the local brass band, Mr Daniel Phillpot, an old and respected resident of this town passed away last evening at an advanced age. His funeral takes place on Monday at the Clareville Cemetery
The Wairarapa and East Coast P. and A. Society have decided to hold a ploughing match on Messrs Worison Bros.' property, "Glenmorven," on Thursday, August 11.
