GRAND NATIONAL STEEPLE. WON BY GRAFNAX. NUMBER OF HORSES FALL. Received July 10, 5.5 p.m. MELBOURNE, July 10. National Steeplechase—Grafnax 1, Generality 2, Lycaon 3. All the acceptors started. Rannock, Squirm, and Grafnax were first away. Grafnax led over the first obstacle from Billiard?, Generality, Squirm, and Littlg Change. At the seven furlongs Grafnax was still in charge, Koroit and Billiards the nearest attendants. Billiards fell at the next jump. At the last jump Harvest fell, and brought down Eyot and Kiverbank. The latter was so badly injured that he had to be shot. £@Gafnax, going splendidly, continued with Ripon and Kororoit close uuntil the latter ran off. Grafnax still increasing his advantage continued to lead. Nigel fell and Ripon name down at the fence. Half a mile from home Grafnax was show' ing the way to Lycaon, Generality, Seymour, and Workmaster, a-id all crossed the last fence in this order. Grafnax drew away and won by five lengths, eight lengths separating the second and third respective iy.
