A GENEROUS OFFER.
Farmers on the West Coast of the North Island are apparently firm be - lievers in the benefits to be derived from agricultural experiments, and are offering land to the Government upon which such experiments can be conducted. At least one progressive Wairarapa farmer, Mr W. Perry, of Penrose, is of opinion that Wairarapa should not bo backward in this rdspect, and at the meeting of the General Com/iaittee of the Masterton A. and P. Association on Saturday last, he generously offered, through the Association, ten acres of the best of his land, near the roadway, to the Government for the purpose of agricultural experiments. The up-to-date farmer must recognise the oenefits that will accrue from these experiments, and more so when they are conducted in his own vicinity. If the Government accept Mr Perry's offer—and there is every reason to believe they will do so, as they appear desirous of assisting the farmer as much as possible in the matter of experiments—it will ne generally acknowledged that Mr Ferry deserves the heartiest thanks of the Wairarapa farmers for his generous action, With a plot in their midst, much more interest would be taken by farmers in this district in the experiments, and much more value placed on them than would be the case if they were being carried out on land in, say, L'aranaki or Manawatu. We have every reason to believe that Mr Perry's generosity will lead farmers in other pares of the district to make similar offers to the Government.
