STOCK MARKET. Messrs Abraham and Williams,. Limited, report:—At our Masterton sale on Wednesday we had a large entry of sheep which was confined mostly hoggets, which were on the whole of a good class and sold readily at prices considerably in excess of those ruling of late. Oily a smalL yarding of cattle came forward which sold under the hammer. With the exception of one line of ewes wa have to report a total clearance^ At Eketahuna oh Friday, owing to the very inclement weather prevailing m the district for the last few days only a small entry was submitted in sheep, but a good. yarding of cattle came forward. The attendance was satisfactory. Competition for sheep was good and particularly so for cattle, which sold readily up to full market rates with an improvement for young sorts la good condition. Quotations:—Masterton: Empty ewes, ss9dto7s7d; best ewa hoggets, 12a Id; best mixed hoggets, 9s 9d, lis, lis 4d, lis 7d, to lis medium hoggets, 5s 9d, 7s id, 8a 3d to 9s; cows to calve October, £3 12s; 18-months empty heifer?, £2 lis; 2-year empty heifers, £3 ss; 2-year steers, £3 14s; hacks, £7 15s. Eketahuna: Wethers, 34s 3d; hoggets, 10s 9d; springing heifers, £4 2s 6d to £4 10s; cows in calf, £4, £6 10s, £8 to £8 2s 6d; fat cows, £3 Is, empty cows, £2 Is 6d; weaner heifers, 17s to £2 ss; 18-month heifers, £3 Is;, weaner steers, £2 4s to £2 6s; 18-months steers, £3 Is.
Messrs Dalgety and Co., Ltd., report having held thsir usual fortnightly Isale at Eketahuna on Friday, Bth July. Entries came in aoove advertised numbers. Sheep sold well under the hammer, the demand not being so good for cattle. They quote:—S.m. ewes in lamb, to'l2s 2d; 2 and 4-tooth ewes in lamb to 9s °10d; forward ewes to 11a 3d; mixed hoggets, 63 6d, Bs, to 11a 3d. Cattle.—Cows in calf, £2 10s, £4, £5 and £5 ss.
