The deceased, who had been in the employ of hi 3 unci;?, Mr W. McKenzie, of Masterton, t'er some time, past, was a fine stamp ci a man, both physically and mentally, and gave promi.se of a sp-endid career. His untimely dea*n was the result of a severe chill, caught some few weeks ago, and which turned to pleurisy. Until last evening hopes were entertained for tne young man's recovery, and his sudden death came as a severe shock to his relatives. The deceased was a well-known piper, and has competed at various pipe contests in t\v?. Wairarapa.
