NEW ZEALAND RUGBY UNION.
COUNTRY PLAYERS AND SELECTION. FOR REPRESENTATIVE MATCHES, By Telegraph—Press Association. WELLINGTON, July 7. The Management Committee of the New Zealand Rugby Union nut this evening, Mr G. Dixon presiding. Mr Mclntyre forwarded particulars ot a scheme whereby the country players could ne brought under the notice of the selectors of. New Zealand teams. His suggestion was that a team of players from the Country Unions should be selected and matches played at Auckland, Wellint - ton, Christchurch and Duntdin, the team to be known as the New ZealatiJ Country Team. The letter was referred to a subcommittee, r The Appeal Committee forwarder! its decision upholding the arpeaict the Kusby Union against the action of the New Zealand Rugby Union in acceding to the appeal of R M. Tansey against his disqualification by th 9 Otago Union for a term, of six playing Saturdays. The Appeal Council did .not accept ihe co'itentioi* of the New Zealand Uuiun that ilia evidence given by a player against another at an inquiry, as was dune in this case, was privileged. The principle was a wrong one because the committee should have power to inquire into any. matter that might tend to bring discredit upon footDalJ„ and to punish offenders. A number of disqualifications made by various Unions were endorsed and made general. The fixing of a date for the inter-Island match was defsrred until an intimation was received from , the various Unions as to their programme of representative matches this season.
