A NEW INDUSTRY.
A new explosive, the invention of a local resident, is likely to attract considerable attention. It is claimed by the inventor that tha new compound is cheaper than any other on the market, that it has a direct upward action (so necessary for stump and rock work), easy of ignition by either fuse, detonator, or battery, and can be readily handled and put up into different sizes for charging. It ia absolutely safe and effective, with ordinary precaution. Ihe inventor has satisfied himself by actual demonstration of the' exact proportion necessary for different sized stumps, etc. Be intends shortly to give a demonstration which will prove its value, and he also hopes ta establish a factory near Masterton.
The usual expenses of clearing land by explosives has long been a drawback to most men, but this explosive will enable men to do their stumping at a cost within the reach of everyone, and for splitting timber or making firewood the cost is so small that many will do away with the jack and wedges. The charge can be used in water, as well as in the ground. No doubt there will be a great demand for it for rock work also, as it has very great power when used in large quantities. He has decided to Cfl.l t 1 r.c~v explosive "Stumpite" ana "iv.ki'e." A notice will be inserted i , o<e A. i in due course, announcing t, : ct >-. and time of the public demons uation.
