GAMBLING.
ANOTHER MUNTE CARLO. Received July 5, 9.10 a.m. ROME, Jniy 4. An Anglo-Italian syndicate is transforming one of the small towns on Lake Maggiore, one of the chief lakes of northern Italy, into a rival of Monte Carlo. The capital of the syndicate, is £160,000 sterling. The newspaper II Secolo states a syndicate has also been formed to promote gambling palaces at Madeira, and that the capital subscribed totals half a million pounds.
