THE KNYVETT CASE.

MEETING IN WELLINGTON. By Telegraph—Press Association. WELLINGTON, July 4. , About 800 people attended the Knyvett meeting in Wellington tonight. Mr J. P. Luke, M.P. presided, owing to the inability of the Mayor to do so. / The chairman said, personally, he considered Knyvett had merited all he had received. Mr R. A. Armstrong, secretary of the Knyvett defence committee outj lined the history of the case, and Mr G. Peacock, a member of the committee, said the promo ers of ' the movement did not desiie to make political capital out of it. The cause they were championiuK was the cause of every officer in the New Zealand defence forces. The inquiry had been a farce, and the Court s.emed to have been befogged. Mr A. J, Black, of Auckland, gave details of Knyvett's "21 year 3 of military service. Mr R. A. Wright, M.P., moved a resolution expressing the rneeti ngs strong convictio.i that Parliament should pass necessary legislation to provide for a new, and fair trial of Knyvett, and to prevent the recur- ; rence of a travesty of justice.
