TE WHARAU NOTES.

Own Correspondent. , Saturday. For the past fortnight we have had the worst weather experienced this winter, a fine day being rare. Winter poisoning, building, and other outdoor work has bean practically at a standstill for the greater pp«:t of the month. The School Committee held its monthly meeting last Saturday, when the usual monthly business was transacted. Most of the sharp curves and dangerous places on the Gladsfcone-Te Wharau road have been recently fenced, and should prove a great convenience to the travelling public. The roads in the district are in a particularly good state at presenl, considering the amount of rain we ' have had, and the fact that a good . deal of heavy traffic has been over them lately. ; 1 hts many friends in this district of Mr Herbert, late County Engineer for South Wairarspa, will be pleased (o read of his appointment i as engineer to the Patea County, Mr and Mrs Bunny, of Glenburn, passed through this week on their way to Maslerton, Mr Larry Nelson, of Flat Point, has left on his annual leave, which he spends in town. Miss Mcintosh, of Christehurch, is at present staying at the Lodgp Wainuioru. Mr who has been residing in Te Wharau for the past few months, has, left for the south, Mr I. Spenser, of Waitotara. is at present visiting Te Wbarau.
