CARTERTON NEWS.
Own Correspondent. Friday. There were seven births, two deaths, and one marriage in Carterton last month. An appropriation of £3OO by ballot, under the auspices of the Wairarapa Terminating Building Society took place last evening, Mr L. C. Pepper being successful. A horse belonging to the W.F.U.A. sustained a nasty gash extending from the middle of the chest lo round behind the shoulder, and nearly half way down the knee this mornng. The horse with others was fceirg brought up from the paddock, when one made a bite at him. The attacked animal swerved quickly and ran into a paling fence with the above result. Mr F. E. Tyler, veterinary shoeing smith, insertedjsorne twenty stitches in the wound.
