CLEARING SALES.

Messrs Dalgety and Co., Ltd., r>port having conducted a very successful clearing sale on account of Mr». Compton, at the homestead, "Grassmere," Clareville, on TnurEday, 30th ult. There was a large attendance of settlers from all over the district, the result lemg that a very successful sale resulted, bhei p and cattle came forward in good condition, and among the horses offered were some well bred hacks, and harness horses. Quotations: —Ewes, fat and forward, 9s Id; springirg heiers, from £5 to £6 10s; empty cows, £3 2s 6d; empty heifers, to £3 Is; springing cows from £6 to £8; light draught geldings, £l7ar,dL £ls 10s; draught mare, £ls: 3-year gelding, £9; harness horses, £l4 10s, £lB and £10; pair brake horses, £42.

Mes?rs Dalgety and Co , Ltd,, also report having held a clearing safe of dairy cows on .account el! Mr P. O'Brien, near Pahiatua fUition, on Friday, Ist July, when they are pleased to report having hud a very good sale, despite the fact that a report waa circulated that Mr O'Brien was disposing of his, cut! cows. The attendance was a representaiive one of the district, and bidding was brisk, and the average price was £6 12i 6d. Prices ranged from £5 12a 6d, £5 15s, £6 ss, £7, £7 2s 6d to £8 ss; oiie bull at £3 7s 6d.: Pigs.—Sow and litter, £2 7s 6d; we'aiiers, 5s to 8s; milk cans, to ps 9d; sundries up to full value.
