Tuesday. The annual meeting of the Carterton Gun Club was.held this afternoon, Mr H. Catt in the chair, 'lhe statement of finances disclosed a satisfactory state of affairs, and was adopted. It was decided to endeavour to arrange a match with the Featherston Club at a date to be fixed later, for a barrel of clay pigeons. Hearty votes of thanks were accorded Messrs J. Meyers and Co., Wellington, H. I. Jones and Son, Wanganui, W. C. Buchanan, M.P., Gladstone, J. Oate?, Waibokeke, W. Howard Booth, Carterton, and the Colonial Ammunition Company, Auckland, for donations of trophies. It was resolved that the next shoot should be for sweepstakes, following for trophies, the election of officers resulted:—Patron, Mr J. Oates; president, Mr W. C. Buchanan, M.P.; vice-presidents, Messrs J. M. Ligthfoot, J. T. M. Hornsby, W. M. Halley, G. W. Deller, W. Howard Booth; *Treasuerer, Mr C. S. Beechey; secretary, Mr W. Tucker; finance committee, Messrs J. S. Laurenson, C. S. Beechey, and H. Catt; general committee, Messrs Catt, Beechey, J. C. Oates, T. H. Hughes, Laurenson, and the Secretary. A vote of thanks to the chairman, and to Messrs Hornsby and Laurenson for the use of their office closed the business. ' The Centenary Ball to be held here next week under the auspices of the local Oddfellows promises to be a huge success. Arrangements are well forward, and the catering has been entrusted to Mrs A L. Whyte. Messrs W. Heat, piano, and R. Crawley, cornet, will be the musicians. The first game in the United Friendly Societies Card Tourney was played last evening, when the Druids defeated the Foresters' by 34 games to 21. The dates for the bazaar in aid of St. Mark's Church have been fixed for October 14th and 15tb.
