GAMBLING ELEMENT.
PROCEEDS OF ART UNIONS.
Received June 28, 10.10 a.m. MELBOURNE, June 28. Speaking at the Trades Hall the Premier, Mr Murray, said he had no objection to the proceeds of an art "union being utilised for the extension of the Trades Hall building instead of being handed over to charities. He ciuld not see anything inherently bad in the gambling element. Speculation entered into every phase ot life. He did not see any harm in a man putting a few shillings, if it was within his means, on a racehorse. He added that he had always been a friend •ot Labour. Capital was an excellent .thing, but if it was all thrown into the sea the people would get on all right The worker was inj dispenaibla to the process of . the community.
