At the Supreme C-urt, tc-day, the Crown Prusecutor announced that he had bsen instructed by the Crown to enter a stay of proceedings in 'he j case of John Willißm Goldfinch, a youth charged with a serious offence. I The jury had failed to agree in this case, and a retrial was fixed for tcday. • Mr Justice Edwards said ha was astounded at the stay of proceedings | beine entered after only one trial, and without reference to a judge. Mr Cornford -said he could make a long statement, but did not wish to unduly interrupt a civil case then proceeding.
