Monday. Mr T. Brown, who has been connected with*the local railway staff for some time past, has been transferred to Dannevirke, and left for his new quarters this morning, carrying with him the best wishes of a large circle of friends for a pleasant time in Dannevirke. Building operations are fairly active here at present, practically, all hands being employed. Mr A. R. Wallis has a staff at Longbush completing a dwelling for Mr J. L, Blundell, and the same contractor has in hand the erection of a dairy factory at Carrington. Mr D. T. King has a staff employed effecting alterations and additions to the business premises alongside the Marquis Hoi el, and an additional shop is being fitted up. Various odd jobs are also consuming a certain amount of labour.
