DR. COOK EXPOSED.

Some time ago four experienced dim bers succeeded in conquering Mount McKinley, America's highest mountain. "Conquering" is used because the story of the ascent seems to prove that, the mountain had t never fallen before, at least not through the efforts of Dr. Cook. An American weekly has gone to some pains to collect material In regard to this matter. The expedition failed to find Dr. Cook'a records on the summit. Further, they undertook to prove by means of photographs and other facts (notably that the ascent did not present the difficulties so graphically told by Cook) that his ascent was never made, and that his photos vere "faked" along with his narrative. The comment of The Times on the subject is interesting: "It is nnfoifunate, it is distinctly unpleasant, that an impostor even of the unparalleled audacity of Dr. Cook, should be able to becloud two very remarkable feats of exploration and discovery." However, though the discovery of the Pole may be "clouded," the story of the successful party has, in the opinion of most, blown away all the mists which left the great peak in obscurity-
