A pathetic story or devotion was toU at Enfield during an inquest on the body of Marie Leroy, a French woman, hitherto supposed to be a man named Harry Floyd, who coooe'rated with Mr Bradlaugh, Prof Hclyoake, ana other Freethinker?, and then suddenly disappeared. It now transpired in evidence that in order to defend the reputation of her ffteisd, Marie donned male attire iu 18S4, and assumed (he paternity ot her friend's child. She continued to protect the latter long after the mother's death, earni g a living hs a teacher of languages.
