TOWN HALL PICTURES.

An enthusiastic audience greeted the change of programme at the Mastertnn Town Hall last evening. The star film, "Under the Stars and Stripes," depicted a fine romance, in which General Weyler, of the United States Army, figured prominently. ! The military engagements at Cuba, with tneir tragic surroundings, were vividly pourtrayed. and one cruld imagine that he was on the very field of rattle. The picture describing the last visit to Berlin of his late Majesty King Edward VII., with the military review, which the Kaif ser and late King witnessed, were intensely interesting. The industrial film, showing the sugar plantation in Sunda, and giving the different processes of treatment of the sugar cane until the crystallised substance was sent to' Europe for refining, was a remarkaole kinematographic production.. The Grand National Steeplechase of 1910 was a faithful record of the great event which was decided a few weeks back at Liver£t pool, when twenty out of twenty- *"* five horses failed to negotiate the country. The imposing military sketch of the "Belgian Cyclist Carabiniers" was well received, and the dramas, "Love Ye One Another" and "The Tatooed Arm" were produced with a fidelity which appealed to the audience. The whole of the comedies were highly amusing, those describing the misadventures of a chaffeur and a town traveller's re- ■ venge being particularly so. The programme, which is probably the most attractive yec presented in the Town Hal!, will he repeated this evening. Adult patrons were last night supplied with slips en'itling their boys and girls to attend Saturday's matinee tree, and to compete for the prize of 10s 6d for the best essay on "Bees—their habits and uses."
