VISIT OF DR VALINTINE.

Dr Valintine, Inspector-General of Hospitals, arrived in Masterton on ( Monday evening, for the purpose of discussing certain departmental matters with the local authorities. On Tuesday morning the InspectorGeneral, accompanied by the chhi - man and secretary of the Dsstrii t Hospital Board, journeyed to Greytown wuh the object of conferring with t.ht? sub-committee appointed by the ! Board to go into the mattiu cf the rebuilding of the older portion of the Greytown Hospital. Members of the District Board's hub-committse, the South Wairarapfc Hospital Committee, Dr Bey and Mr W. C. Buchanan, M.P., met Dr Valintine at the Greytown Hospital, and after an interesting discussion the following resolution was carried unanimously"That the modified plans submitted by Dr Valintine providing for ihe re-erection of the older portion of the building in conformity with the newer portion of the present structure be adopted, and that the plans be drafted by the architects forthwith, and submitted for the Inspector-General's approval, prior to the next ordinary meeting of the District Board on July 6th next." During his brief visit to Mastertin the Inspector-General paid official visits to the Masterton Hospital, and to the Eenall-Solway Home, and left for Wellington by the afternoon mail train.
