MASTERTON FIRE BOARD.
The annual meeting of the Masterton Fire Board was held yesterday. There were present—Messrs J. it. Pauling, acting chairman K. M. Simpson, H. E. Kempthorne, J. C. Ewington, and J. P. Prentice. A copy of the|report of the tsorough Engineer on the water pressure was ordered to be sent to the Superintendent. The local Committee was authorised to sell by public auction the Board's interests in the lease of the old station. The Commitee was also authorised to proceed with the electric fire alarm installation, and the seal of the Board was affixed to the deeds of mortgage of the loan for the new station. The estimates were then considered and adopted. They amounted to £975 6s, after deducting the estimated credit balance at 31st June, 1910. Subject to the Minister's approval of the estimates and after allowing for the Government contribution, levies were made as , follows—Master ton Borough Council, £463 5s 6d; Con ■ tributary Insurance Companies, £463 5s 6d, pro rata.
