IN BANKRUPTCY.
Before Mr M. Foley, Registrar, yesterday, Messrs Percy Eros., farmers of Te Ore Ore, petitioned that the firm of W. H. Long and Co., butchers be adjudicated bankrupt. The grounds of the petition were j that on June Bth last defendants j committee! an available set of bank- ] ruptcy. At a meeting of their creditorys called to consider the financial position of the firm, a resolution was passed requesting than? to fila. The defence set foith thai; (1) defendants deny all and sundry the allegations in the petition; ( 2) thai they have not committed any available act of bankruptcy; (3) that tho petition ii not pioperly signed, attested, or verified. Mr D. K. Logan appeared for the petitioners, and Mr C. A. Pownall for defendants. After hearing considerable legal argument, M. Foley gave his decision that the petition was in order. Mr Pownall then intimated that he did not intend to take any further pari: in the proceedings and withdrew. Evidence was then given, after which Mr Foley made an order that defendants be adjudgedbankrupt.
