Mr C. Tringham, of Pigeon Bush, J had the misfortune to lose his wool shed by a fire on Wednesday ingMr Sydney Watson, for sums time past sub manager for the Union Steamship Company at Lyttejton- ; has resigned to join his father in business at Wellington. Mr Death, father of Mrs W. Piatt, of Opaki, is lying seriously ill at Auckland, and but faint hopes are entertained of his recovery. Mr Wesley Grant, who has been specially engaged as operator and mechanic for West's Ptctures, has arrived in Masterton: Mr Grant has had wide experience, having been operator for Major Perry's Biograpb Company, and other important picture! combinations. * The secretary of the New Zealand Swimming' Association has been informed that Mr W. Heney, general secretary of the Royal Life SaviDg Association of Great Britain, who is touring Canada ths interests of his as°ociation, will - arrive in New Zealand in October, and will conduct a campaign in this Dominion. Mrs Joseph Tidswell, who has been ; residing in Featherston Blnce 1859, dud yesterday morning. The deceased lady was of an intensely interesting personality and" a dispostion that made her beloved by all who knew her. She arrived in New Zealand in 1840, and had a Keen recollection of tW severe earthquakes during the early settlement of Wellington, ar.d also of the Maori troubles, bhe leaves a grown up family ol five sons and three daughter?, and no leas than 38 grandchildren, aad three great grand children.
