WALK OVER A CLIFF.
GIRL'S TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE,
J A story of a tragic occurrence 01 the cliffs, whereby a young mai lost hiß life and hia girl companion underwent a terrible throughout the dark night, comes from the village of Llantwit Major, a watering place on the Glamorgan I coast. After attending service at the parish church on Sunday, Mr George Kibblewhite, an assistant at the village post office, and son of a school-
master at Wick, went for a walk with Miss Gwenogwen Lewis, a young lady from Aberdare. The latter was paying a visit to Llantwit Major, where she had often stayed with friends. They started off for the noishbourhood known as Dimhole It appears that they got on to th wrong footpath, and walked blindly on, stepped over the cliff and fell to the rocky beach below. As the couple did "ot return to their homes, alarm was felt, and. midnight search parties set out. The shore near at hand was first investigated, and crevices in the cliff minutely examined, hours being spent without result. Then the rescuers went farther afield. Just as day was breaking Mr Mervyn Morgan, the -leader of a party high up on the cliff, whistled, and in reply heard someone crying out from the rocks below, "Help help! help!" Speedily he reached the shore, and there found Kibblewhite and Miss Lewis, lying side by side. The man was dead, and his companion, who now and again t recovered consciousness, could not move. Her thigh was fractured and arms broken, and she was writhing in agony. When spoken to, she Baid, in low tones, that Kibblewhite lost his footing, and clutched at her. In this way they fell over the cliff together. At the time the water touched her feet, but to her gxeat joy she SBW the tide recede. Sbe cried for help ail through the night, and it was nearly four o'clock' on Monday morning before the couple were located, and still later when they were reached. Young Kibblewhite was only 19 years of age. It is thought that he was killed instantly by the fall.
