MAURICEVILLE COUNTY COUNCIL.

The ordinary monthly meeting of j the Council was held on Saturday, j May 28th. Present—Crs F. W. H. j Kummer (chairman), C. Forsherg, i C. Churchill Jaclrson, H. J. Dagg, J. E. Perry, and 0. From the Acting Secretaiy Charitable Aid Board, advising that £BO will be provided,, for local charitable aid, besides £7B for maintenance of a patient in the Victoria Home; also that the County will have to contribute during the present year £lO6 9s 4d. r From the Eketahuna county Coun- i cil proposing to apply to the Government for a grant to build a bridge over the Makakahi river at Kaipororo. j From the Secretary of the Man- j gamahueSrhoolCommittee requesting repairs to be made to Hegan's road. The request was granted. From the Commissioner of Crown Lands, forwarding forms re proposals for the expenditure of thirds. From J. Anderson, sawiniller, requesting permission to cros>s the road with a tramway. It was decided that the request be granted, subject to payment of a fee of £5, and the work to be carried out to the satisfaction of Cr. Dagg. From C. Jensen, resigning his position as poundkeeper. The Ch? .man moved and it was agreed tn 1 record the Council's deep iegret at the death of the late King Edward.

It was respived that the question | of managing the County teams be left to the Chairman and Cr Isakson. The Council also decided that notice be given that the district roads be closed to neavy traffic during the winter months in acccordance with the By-law. C. Jensen's resignation was accepted, and J. Jorgensen appointed pound keeper in his'place. Cr Dagg gave notice that he would move at the next meeting to strike a general rate of id of a penny over the whole County. Accounts amounting to £9B 16s 5d were passed for payment.
