WEATHER FORECAST. By Telegraph—Press Association. _/ WELLINGTON, May 31.. The Kev. D. C. Bates' summary and forecast are as follow : A southerly gale with heavy rain prevailed in ,many parts on Monday night, and strong-southerly winds generally t>day, with changeable weatner. Present indications are for a further rise in the barometer, and especially in the North, with strong southerly and westerly winds generally. The weather will probably continue cold and showery in many part?.
Mr J. C. Boddington reporls that the rainfall registered at the Upper Plain for the 24 hours preceding 9 a.m on Tuesday was 24 points. .
