HOTEL ON FIRE.
IN bIX DIFFERENT PLACES. MAN ARRESTED IN WASHHUUSE. By Telegraph—Fress Association. ASHBURTON, May 28. What is alleged to be a deliberate attempt to destroy by fire an umccupied two storey building nere, knovsn as Butler's Hotel, occurred "rig the small hours of th a . m. .13. t'ba fire was promptly discov ,d in six different parts of tha building, and the police succeeded in extinguishing the flames, which fortunately hai not attainedserious dimensions. When the trouble was notified they made search and found crouched behind the washuoUisedoor a young man named William Bunt, ot Cox Street, Ashburton. Hunt gave an unsatisfactory account of his presence in the builJing, and was arrested. Bail in the sum of £2OO was not forthcoming. The accused is a porter at the Somerset Hotel.
