ISLANDERS AND THE COMMONWEALTH. United Press Assochtion-By Electric Telegraph Copyright, NORFOLK ISLAND, May 29. The Governor ot New South Wales, Lord Chelmsford, opened the new Rawson Public Hall. At a subsequent public meeting, a number of matters of interest to the islanders were discussed. Mr Macr.y Quintal, the principal spokesman, stated that the handing over of the island to the Commonwealth was against the wish of a large majority of the islanders.
