The New Zealand Xoan [and Mercantile Agency company, Ltd., re port at their weekly sale at Eketahuna yesterday, entries in both sheep and cattle were somewhat limited. The quality of the sheep offered was only second class, and with a slow market rates were fairly low, although sales were made. In cattle a tew useful lots of mother reared calves and good young cows sold readily at sound prices, but aged and poor conditioned [cows showed a decline aa compared with last sale. Good woolled 2-tooth wethers made lis Id. Empty ewea in good condition made 7s lOd, poorer sorts 5?, good ycung cows in calf 50s to 60s, forward cows 46s to 555; extra Good mother reared weanevs 403 to 47s 6d, dairy heifers," well forward 80s to 90s. A cottage and four acres of land, situate at Newman, sold by order of the mortgagee, realised £221.
WOOL SALES. i By Telegraph —Special to the Age. PALMERSTON N., May 27. Messrs Abraham and Williams, Ltd., report:—We held our usual monthly wool sale on Friday, and submitted a good catalogue to a fair attendance of buyers. Bidding was not spirited, but tha prices realised were equal to late rates. We quote: —Wool.—Croabsred fine B|d; crossbred medium 7d to 7|d, locks and pieces 3|d to 4£d, black 6Jd, dead 7id, lamb 7£d, crutchings sd, s£d to 6d, scoured pieces 7|d.Skins.—Crossbred fine 7Jd to 7£d, crossbred medium 4id to 51d, 6£d to 7d, halfbred 6d, quarter to half wools s£d, halfwool 6Jd, dead and damaged 4d, black id, lambs 6Jd to 7Jd, Hoggets s£d, crossbred seedy 3d. Butchers skins at per each. —Crossbred medium 3s 3d to 53 lid, crossbred fine 5s Id, lambs 2s 5d to 3s 6d, crosbsred green 4s 7d, dead skins 3s 2d, crossbred salted 3s lOd, lambs salted Is 3d to Is 4d, calf and yearlings average 61b at 9|d per lb, others 7d to 7|d, cut calf 3Jd, yearlings 4d to 6§d, Hides. —Ox (801bs) at 8d less tare allowance the net return is £2 9s 4d,|64lbs to 71 lbs at 7Jd, 601bs at 7d, average 531bs 7£d, average 461bs 6fd, cow 701bs 6Jd, 591bs 6£d, 451bs 6fd, 441bs 6§d, average 43Ibs 6gd; cows, slippy 4Jd, bulls 61 to 731bs at s£d, heifers and steers 6§d, horse hides 10s.
