J. C\ Ewington claimed £7 6s for rent from Mr F. A. Lambourne, -who defended his esse, and raised the point that rent could not be charged for as goods, quoting Webster's Dictionary as an authority as to the meaning of the word. Judgment was entered for plaintiff, who was represented by Mr Lavery. Orders were made on judgment summonses as follows—Butcher Bros. v. Kuku Karaitiana, £l 17s, order made for payment forthwith, in default seven days imprisonment.
