Saturday. Arrangements have Been made to hold a united memorial service here on Friday next, the day of the late King's funeral. Mr J. J. Boagey has charge of the musical part of the service, and requests all members of the various choirs to be present. After the service the Pahiatua Brass Band will pUy the Dead March in Saul. The sucial in aid of the funds of the Roman Catholic church, which was to have been held en Wednesday next, has b:-en postponed until a later date. The time of holding the Memorial service at the Anglican Church on Friday next has been altered slightly. The service will begin at 2.15 p.m., instead of 2.30 p.m,,aspre-

viousiy stated, The weekly meeting of the Pahiatua Debating Society was ht;ld in the Foresters Hal! last night. The attendance was very large, the seating accommodation being taxed to its utmost. The business took the formof a question box, and provided a splendid entertainment. The next meeting will be held on Thursday, 19th inst, when the subject will be ''note-pipa' essays."

Tne social in connection with the society will be held in the Olympic Theatre on Monday, May 23rd. Messrs Dalgety and Company Limited, report on their Pongaroa sals on Saturday as follows:—Owing to the heavy rsins experienced in the back country since Tuesday last, preventing slock coming from a distance being mustered, we have to report a small yarding, confined to sheep only. We quote: Wethers from 10s to 113 3d (indifferent); cull ewes, 2s lOd tn 33 Id; 4to 5 year ewes to 93 4J; mixed aged ewes, small, 10s Id. No cattle came forward.
