PRISONERS SENTENCED,
By Telegraph—Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, May 11. At the Supreme Court to-day, James Lewis, alias Johnson, who admitted a charge of forging and uttering, was sentenced to twelve month's gaol. D. A. Hamilton admitted threec harges of forgery, and got eighteen months. John Trembath, alias C. W. R-ss, who pleaded guilty to a charge of forgery received eighteen months' imprisonment. Prank Reed pleaded guilty to a series of charges of stealing various sums from the Lyfitelton Pirates Football Club, and was remarked until to-morrow, pending the probation officer's report. Harry Shaw pleaded guilty to a charge of forgery, and was remanded until tomorrow for sentence. Thon,as Francis O'Connor pleaded not guilty to a charge of having indecently assaulted a girl under the age of sixteen. The jury returned a verdict of not guilty. Chiles Fahey, a young man, changed with cruelty to a horse, was found not guilty. In the case of Cecil Herbert Jeffreys, eighteen years of age, who had broken the terms of his probation, his Honor decided to give him another chance and admitted him to three years' probation under certain conditions. James Carney was found guilty of theft from the person, and sentence was postponed till to-mor-row.
