Bates' summary • and iorecast is as follows: The barometer has fallen every-, where, and especially in the South, easterly winds have prevailed, with, cloudy and wee weather, especiallly in the North Island. Present indications are for a fur-i fther fall, preceding a rise m pressure j with winda changing to the south-'i •ward and increasing strong to gale;' showery and changeable weather ex-, pected generally and snow probable in high country by to-morrow night. l Mr J. C. Boddington reports that the rainfall registered at the Upper Plain for the 24 hours proceeding' vfl >a.m. on Wednesday was 69 points.
