Tuesday. A football match between the Mangatainoka and Pahiatua juniors will be played on the Recreation ground to-morrow afternoon. Ihe Eketahuna Dramatic Society were to have played the "Ticket of Leave Man" here on Thursday night, but owing to the ling's death the performance has been postponed until June 3rd.

A short meeting of the Borot'gh Council was held last night:, which lasted only ten minutes, The Mayor moved the following motion, which was carried, the Councillors standing*— "That the Council hears with great regret the death of l:is Gracious Majesty King Edward VIL, and that the Council adjourn, a copy of this resolution to be forwarded to the Governor."

Messrs Dalgety and Co., Ltd,, report having held their usual weekly sale in Pahiatua, this w*?ek at their Mangahao yards, when }hey ottered a yarding of both cattle and sheep well above advertised numbers, and we are pleased to report a good clearance well up to late rates. They quote:— | Fat ewes, lis 8d to 12s; foiward ewes, 7s 3Od to 8s 4d; backwaid ewes, 5s 8d to 4s; 2-tooth wethers, lis IGd to 12s 6d; ewes (mixed ages), 10a 3(1 to 10s 8d; lambs, fair, 6s lOd to 7s 10:!. Cattle: Fat heifers, £5 5s to £5 15s; springing heifers,£s to £6 sa; backward calves, £2 153 to £7 2s; old cows, empty, 20s to 425; weaners, heifers, 225; 3-year steer 3, £4 10s, £4 14s to £4 153 6d. Our nsxt sale will be held next Tuesday (17th May) in the Pahiatua Farmers' Yards, at 11.30 sharp. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co, Ltd.,' report having held their weekly Pahiatua stock sale in Messrs Dalgety and Co.'a yards, to-day, when they submitted a fair, yarding of sheep and a good yarding or cattle to a large attendance of farmers and buyers. Prices on the whole compared very favourably with late rates, and ran as follows: —Sheep: Lambs, 4s lid to 6s 303; empty ewes to 8s lOd: ewes in lamb, 5s 3d to 8s 9d. Cattle: Weaners, 15s to £2; bullocks, £5 15a to £6; two and three-year steers, £4 14s; dairy cows, £3 10s to £7; bulls,£2 5s to £3 10s.
