CAUGHT IN A STORM.

SHIP'S CREW'S ROUGH EXPERIENCE. United Press Association—By Electrio Telegraph Copyright. Received May 9. 9.15, p.m. SYDNEY, May 9. The Norwegian ship Ilala, wheat laden from South Australia to English uhannel, put in here in distress. She encountered a terrific storm 300 miles south east of Tasmania on April 23rd, and was thrown on her beam ends. The crew took to the ringing, while enomous seas pounded the vessel furiously. Everything moveable was swept away, and it appearedjaa if she would be engulfed by the sea. The latter flooded the vessel, but it is believed it did not get at the cargo. All night lcng the crew clung to the rigging, and at daylight the crisis came, when a mountainous sea curled down on the vessel, broke over her as high up as the main yard, and washed right over the crew in*thu rigging. The men, however, came though safely. The boats were washed away. After the weather moderated the vessel was brought to Sydney for repairs.
