(Own Correspondent.) Saturday. The annual meeting of the Wairarapa Terminating Building Society was held last evening, Mr James Baillie, chairman, presiding. The annual report and balance sheet were read and adopted. Messrs Baillie, J. Moncrieff and W. T. Masson were
re-elected Directors, and Mr L. H. Smart shareholders' auditor. Mrj Baillie was re-appointed chairman.
Out of respect to the late King Ed-j ward, the business people here closed; their premises from four to s«ven o'clock this afternoon, and flags werej flown at fialf mast.
Mr W. F. Bay, of Gr eytown, has secured the lease of the property at Gladstone known as Springhank. Misb Scott, who has been'associatedi with the local High School teachin.gj staff, retires from the service of thej Wellington Education Board this month. During the time Miss Scott has bean teaching here, she ba3 shown considerable ability, and her many kind and gentle actions towards the pupils in and out of the school have won for her tha highest esteem of the parents and scholars. It is with deep regret that they hear of her approaching departure, and Miss Scott will carry with her their sheerest wishes in a very tanigble form tor a prosperous and joyous time in the venture she is about to embark on. - A young fellow named Percy | Bowles had his collar bone broken | while taking part m a football match! here this afternoon. Dr Johnston at-| tended to the injury. f
