TUNNEL COLLAPSE.

United Press Association —By Electric Telegraph Copyright. Received 10.57 p.m. CHRISTCHURCH, May 5. Ever since the morning the drive at Otira tunnel has been thoroughly cleaned up, and the shaft more atroDgly timbered. The refuse from last night's storm has been taken from the shaft, and all cleaned to the bottom of the last shot. I A shot was fired at 2 p.m. to-day at a depth of three feet, which sh«itt«jred the rock for some depth, and loosened the roof of the head ing within. After further efforts the two men Doyle and were liberated shortly after 8 o'clock, and emeiged quite uninjured. They were even able to walk to their huts.
RESCUED VERY THANKFUL.
GREYMOUTH, May 5,
The entombed miners who were released to-day are quite well, and very thankful for their escape. ,/fhe three men in the Grey Hospital are making satisfactory progress towards recovery. Formal evidence was taken at the inquest touching the death of Chas. Beemer. Be'emer's body will be sent to his relatives in Hobart for interment.
