Tha Morning Leader reports that Omori, a large town inj northern Japan has been devastated by fire. Eight thousand huusestogether with all the public offices and three banks were destroyed. ihere are 30,000 persons rendered homeless.

• The damage is estimated at £2,000,000. Sixteen persons were killed.
