Mr W. H. Hawkins says he will be a candidate for the Pabiar.ua seat ar the next election.
Mr T. V. Moore, of Carterton, has been appointed delegate to represent the Wairarapa South County Council, at the County Council's Conference, to be held shortly.
" The funeral of the late Mrs W. S. Langley took place at the Masterton Cemetery, yesterday afternoon. The Rev. H. Watson conducted the service at the graveside.
A large number of the friends of Mr W. Parker, who leaves for England on Friday, assembled at Mr K. Dickson's residence, last evening, to bid him "bon voyage " A pleasant social evening was spent, and Mr B. Potter, on behalf of the members of the disbanded W.F.G.A. hockey team, of which Mr Parker was a member, presented him with a case of silver-mounted pipes suitably engraved.
At the Masterton District High School, ysterday, the headmaster, Mr W. H. Jackson, made a presentation from the staff and scholars to Miss E. Von Keisenberg, who has been appointed assistant at the Levin School. In making th presentation Mr Jackson paid a high compliment to the teaching abilities of Miss Von Keisenberg and pointed out that she had been connected with the Masterlon School right from the infant classes until she became a teacho". Besides she was a universal favo r.e with her pupils. The gifts included a handsome travelling rug and holder, and silver buckles, a silver-mounted button ho.k, and a silver-mounted scent bottle.
