PAHIATUA NEWS.

Own Correspondent. Wednesday. A meeting of the Stewards of the Pahiatua Racing Club was held in the Commercial Hotel, last night. Mr J. Breeds, President of the Club, presided. The business was mostly of a routine character. The date for the next annual fixture evoked much discussion. It was ultimately decided to hold the meeting on the first Wednesday and Thursday in February, 1911.

A meeting of the newly-formed Hockey Club was held in Daigefy and Co.'s office last night. Messrs G. H. R. Ulrich, J. Hughes, C. Fairbrother, were elected a committee to draw up rules. Mr C. Fairbruther was elected Secretary. A meeting will be held on the 26th inst. to elect officers.

This afternoon on the Bowling Green the Pahiatua colts had an easy victory over a team "of colts from the Palmerston Club, defeating them by 23 points to 13. Mr W. W. McCardle, the only candiadate for the Mayoral chair, was duly declared elected to-day.

Thomas William Watts was charged before Mr Graham, S.M., this morning, with supplying liquor to an intoxicated person. , He was convicted and fined £5 and costs.
