MASTERTON HOSPITAL COMMITTEE

FIKST MEETING UNDER NEW CONDITIONS. The first meeting of the Masterton Hoapital Committee, under the control of the Wairarapa Hospital and Charitable Aid Board, was held yesterday in the office of Mr J. C. Boddington (Secretary). There were present: —Messrs J- B. Keith, J. C. Ewington, H. J. O'Leary, H. J. Murray Jackson, Jas. Miller and J. Morris. Mr J. B. Keith waa elected Chairman of the Committee. Dr. Valentine wrote stating that in view of little or no nuisance being caused by the present septic tank arrangements, he would suggest that the matter in connection therewith be held over, until he had had an opportunity of personally visiting the Hospital.—lt was decided that the matter stand over for the present. The Acting Secretary of the Wairarapa Hospital and Charitable Aid Board (Mr F. G. Moore), wrote with ■ reference to the constitution and mode of procedure of the local committees under the control of the Board.—The letter was received. The Secretary reported that during the month of March, twenty-one patients had been admitted into the Masterton Hospital;- and the same number discharged, the number of patients in the institution at the ; present time being fifteen. The Committee decided to open an account with the Bank of New Zea- • land, and that cheques be signed by the treasurer and counter-signed by any two members of the Committee. The Treasursr's statement showed a credit balance to date of £876 2s 3d. The annual statement showed the receipts to be £3,116 5s 6d,* expenditure £2,886 lis lid; balance iast year, £615 4s 9d; balance this year, £844 18s 4d; assets, £14,472 4s 6d; liabilities, £92 4s lOd. Accounts amounting to £9l 6s lOd ware passed for payment. The Committee declined to pay a charge of 18s for water meter rent for the past twelve months, aa they had not bean notified that they were to be charged rent for the meter.
