In the House of Commons, Captain Craig, Unionist member for Down East, asked leave to introduce a Bill providing for the official recognition of the 24th May, Empire Day. Leave was refused by 240 votes to 150. Sir Charles Uilke, Radical member f jrjthe Forest of Dean, remarked that upon this subject all parts of the Empire were not agreed.
